Diva's Challenge #106: "The Year of the Snake"

The Diva's weekly challenge is The Year of the Snake. I think snakes can be slimy and pretty at the same time. I used Celia Norman’s Zentangle® pattern Fang on my snake.
Here is my try at a snake:

My Tangle - Shooms

I came up with this tangle by playing with the tangle Fungees. Then I got an idea because my mess up looked like a mushroom cap. I always wanted to tangle mushrooms but never figured how to make them into a tangle till now. From one fungi to another I used CZT® Leslie Crumpler’s Fungees tangle to come up with my Shooms. It starts off the same way with wavy lines but instead of a bell shape that spans two rows, it starts with the curve of the cap of the mushroom on just one row. The bell shape is drawn in the row below it making the stalk of the mushroom. To complete the shape, I draw the lines connecting the cap to the stalk to create the underneath of the mushroom cap. I add in the gill lines and they look just right.

I like them shaded.  The shading adds to the curve of the cap of the mushrooms and I use a darker shade for the gills.  I just shaded the gills in the step out example. The second example has the shading I like the most.

Diva's Challenge #105: "UMT v. XIII: Dansk"

I admit, the reason I love these challenges is that I get to do a tangle I have never tried before. This week's challenge is brought to you by Margaret Bremner, a CZT. You can see the step outs for her tangle DANSK here on her blog. This is a simple but fun to draw tangle that can be layered on other tangles. So I gave the layering a shot. I like it without shading, so I will probably leave it this way. This was my first attempt at layering so there are mistakes. It was a learning experience. =)
I'm a Diva is giving away a Tangle A Day Calendar, courtesy of the amazing and wonderful Carole Ohl, CZT. To enter, leave a comment on the Diva's Challenge #105 saying you'd like a calendar! For an extra entry, share this giveaway on your blog. iamthedivaczt

Diva's Challenge #104: String Theory v. XXIII - TanglePatterns String #003

The assignment this week was to use String #003 from tanglepatterns.com.
Here is my attempt. I used Paradox, Betweed, Munchin, ‘Nzeppel, Pokeleaf, along with two variations of one of my tangles.  I like this string because it reminds me of a star.
